The sale, for the Balabanli wind farm project near the city of Tekirdag in the European part of Turkey, includes a ten-year service agreement.
“The Turkish wind energy market is attractive for Siemens and we expect further growth in the future,” says Felix Ferlemann, chief executive of the Wind Power Division of Siemens Energy.
“The fourth wind power order from Turkey shows that we are not only doing well in the offshore sector, but that we are also successful in onshore wind energy.”
Siemens says Turkey is seeing high levels of economic and population growth, and that in order to cover increasing electricity demand it is relying more and more on renewables, and on wind in particular.
