Associated British Ports (ABP) Hull director Matt Jukes tells Recharge it is now expected that the German wind turbine giant will put pen to paper on leasing the consented 54-hectare Alexander Dock site at GreenPortHull “early next year”, with the factory up and running by 2014-15.
A final investment decision was originally expected during 2012. Sources tell Recharge that the delay is partly down to minor issues in the consenting process for Siemens’ planned new offshore manufacturing base – but partly due to industry uncertainty over the timing of projects, in the context of the UK government's electricity market reform (EMR) programme.
