Siemens opens new wind-power training centre in Bremen

Siemens has cut the ribbon on a new wind-power training centre in the German city of Bremen, which it will use to train a new generation of service technicians to install and maintain its growing stable of installed turbines.

The centre features the original nacelle of a Siemens 2.3-megawatt wind turbine, complete with a simulator, ladder structures, electrical and hydraulic modules, and a maintenance crane that make training possible “under virtually realistic conditions”.

Encompassing more than 600 sq metres, the facility offers prospective wind-energy professionals a suite of qualification and training options, which Siemens claims will allow its turbines to operate more reliably and efficiently over the long run.
