The German manufacturer claims weight savings designed into the SWT-6.0-120 will help drive down the cost of offshore power generation.
The new turbine, unveiled in Høvsøre, has a rotor diameter of 120 metres. Siemens says the nacelle and rotor of the turbine together weigh less than 350 tonnes.
