Germany’s Siemens will build the A$465m ($489m) wind farm – an extension to Snowtown’s existing 100MW project – and supply 90 3MW turbines.

TrustPower had announced in May a conditional agreement to partner with Siemens, which will also build the substation, switchgear and transformers to connect the wind farm into the grid.

Snowtown II is Siemens's first wind turbine contract in Australia and the biggest global project deploying its 3MW direct-drive turbines with 108-metre blades, the SWT 3.0-108.
