Earlier this month Siemens and ten other members of industry association Wind Europe issued a joint declaration setting out the €80/MWh target, with a view to making offshore wind cost competitive with conventional power generation by the middle of the next decade.
In an update today at the Global Offshore Wind event in Manchester, UK, the German company said it is on course to reach its nearer-term goal of generating offshore wind power at below €100/MWh by 2020, with some 72% of this targeted cost reduction already reached.
