Much of the state, surrounding the capital Vienna, lies in the windy Danubian Plain.
"Niederrösterreich certainly has the best wind conditions," says IG Windkraft managing director Stefan Moidl.
"But for the Energiewende (energy transition), you also need the political will, and resulting from that targets and putting them into practice with adequate framework conditions."
