The Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) study said extended negotiations between Scotland and the rest of the UK over energy could delay decisions and affect projects.
"The longer-lasting effect would be on those in Scotland if they are unable to compete for support under the Renewables Obligation or Contract-for-Difference (CfD) schemes," said analyst Kieron Stopforth, author of the research.
The CfD support scheme is currently being phased in, with the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) due to hold its first full-scale auction in October.
