SaskPower, the province’s state-owned monopoly utility, will undertake “a major expansion of wind power, augmented by other renewables, such as solar, biomass, geothermal and hydro”, says Bill Boyd, the provincial minister responsible for SaskPower.
The announcement comes just days after neighbouring Alberta announced its own energy policy shake-up, saying it will get 30% from its electricity from renewables by 2030, compared to about 5% today.
