The Bango wind farm, near the town of Boorowa, north of Yass, was initially expected to deploy 200 turbines. But Wind Prospect has revised its proposal and now hopes to erect 100 machines.
The state government’s current draft planning guidelines for wind farms – which officials have boasted are among the world's toughest – will mean that operators will be required to get written consent from every landowner within 2km of a project.
