The €1.1bn ($1.23bn) Rentel project will comprise 42 Siemens 7MW turbines with a rotor diameter of 154 metres. With a peak height of 183 metres, the turbines will be the largest installed so far in the Belgian North Sea.
The turbines will be connected to an offshore substation which will convert the power to 220kV, before it is transported to shore at Zeebrugge for onward distribution.
