The €7.3m ($7.9m) scheme, funded under the European Horizon 2020 LIFES50+ programme, aims to have to have two of four concepts currently on the table "optimised and qualified" by early 2017.
Led by Norway's Marintek, the JIP group includes Politechnico de Milano, DTU, Ramboll, Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, Universität Stuttgart, Iberdrola I&C, Ideol, DNV GL, Tecnalia, Insitut de Recerca en Energia Catalunya and Olav Olsen.
