The developer notified BOEM of its decision last 23 June, almost a month after the US Department of Energy (DOE) announced it would no longer provide funding for the WindFloat Pacific pilot that would help enable it to demonstrate the technology.
The project stalled after failing to find buyers for the electricity, which was a critical benchmark for continued DOE funding.
