The polyurethane resin and glass fiber process promises to be a "major influence on stability and durability" of blades, and so boost efficiency and cut costs.
Covestro recently tested the polyurethane resin on an industrial scale together with glass and carbon fiber fabrics-maker Saertex and process engineers Hubers on a 45-metre-long prototype spar cap at the German Aerospace Center.
