The energy ministry has cleared US power company Contour Global to appraise the feasibility for the 76MW Almirante Grau wind farm and the 148MW Cupinisque II wind project.
Cupinisque is the expansion of the existing 80MW Cupinisque project, the biggest in operation in the country.
This brings the total capacity under study to 1.6GW, more than tenfold Peru's 142MW wind power operating capacity.
