“Our wind power potential is bigger than we thought, now that we measured it at around 100 metres,” said Eduardo Azevedo, head of the energy department in the Pernambuco state government.
A new wind map – part of a more ambitious renewables atlas including solar and biomass potential – was developed by local consulting firm Aeroespacial.
Previous measurements at lower heights put the state's development potential at about 4GW.
