The Japanese electronics group won the “Large Corporation” category of the annual award, which recognises companies and organisations for their contributions to renewable energy and sustainability.
Osaka-based Panasonic — which manufactures PV modules and develops solar projects in the US market — was selected for the top honour primarily in recognition for developing the Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town (Fujisawa SST), a residential community outside of Tokyo that went into operation in November.
