Activity in UK’s offshore wind sector doubled in the past year to reach a construction value of £4.1bn ($5bn), with projects worth billions more planned, according to the latest data from construction industry analysts Barbour ABI.

The total construction value for UK projects jumped from £2.45bn in 2015.

Research showed that three major projects drove the increase last year – the 588MW Beatrice, 340MW Galloper and the 714MW East Anglia 1 offshore wind farms, which together were worth a combined £3bn.
