Building on a €2m ($2.6m) grant from the Dutch government, the ‘PlugSocket’ scheme will look at “innovative ways” of tying together individualoffshore power transmission cabling into single interconnector lines, aswell as recasting international legislation and regulations and developing newfinancing models.
Along with Nuon and Vattenfall, the consortium is made up of Liandon, consultancyECN, RoyalHaskoningDHV, Groningen Centre of Energy Law of the University ofGroningen, Delft University of Technology, DC Offshore and Energy Solutions,and is being shepherded by engineering outfit Grontmij.
