Toronto-based Northland Power currently owns 1.3GW of generating capacity, two-thirds of it thermal.
But over the past two years it has greatly ramped its ambitions for renewables and launched itself into the international offshore wind sector – first buying a 60% stake in the €2.8bn ($3.1bn) Gemini project and then an 85% stake in the €1.2bn Nordsee One, as well as two future Nordsee projects.
