Historically, the relationship between turbine suppliers like GE and independent service providers (ISPs) like UpWind Solutions in the O&M arena has been one based largely on competition, in part due to the sensitive – and often valuable data – that comes from performing such work.
But the traditional relationships between OEMs, ISPs and project owners is starting to break down, says Aaron Barr, senior technology advisor to Danish consultancy MAKE, and a former technician for GE's wind business.
