Over the next few years, technological advances and cost declines in wind and solar will close the gap with combined-cycle gas plants on a levelised cost of energy basis, NextEra says.
Florida-based NextEra, North America’s largest generator of wind and solar power through its Energy Resources unit, says the five-year PTC and ITC extensions Congress passed last month combined with the Obama Administration’s unfurling Clean Power Plan have created “one of the best environments for renewables development in recent history”.
