The French group said the 1.55GW added last year helped buoy up earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) at EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN) in the first half of 2013.

EDF’s Other Activities segment, which includes EDF EN, saw sales rise 3.1% to €2.88bn ($3.8bn).

But other businesses in the segment saw falls in Ebitda, leaving the overall figure down 12% to €1.01bn.

EDF said highlights of the last six months in the renewables sector include the decision to renew its French offshore wind partnerships for the country’s new tender round, and to join a consortium to buy French onshore wind assets previously owned by Iberdrola.
