Through August, the Navantia-Windar consortium will float out 29 jackets and the accompanying 116 piles from Navantia’s Fene and Windar's Aviles yards for the €1.4bn ($1.54bn) development, which is built around 70 5MW turbines from French-Spanish OEM joint venture Adwen.
"This contract positions Navantia as a reference builder for wind farm offshore structures, a growing sector in Europe, mainly in the UK and Germany," states Navantia president Jose Manuel Revuelta.
"It also allows Navantia to diversify its range of activity and provide a complementary workload to the naval sector."
