The state’s dominant utility agreed to pay 24.4 cents a kilowatt hour in the first full year of operation in 2012, and a yearly price increase of 3.5%.
The office of Governor Donald L. Carcieri says the agreement would raise the average residential customer’s monthly electric bill $1.35. Homeowners pay about 13 cents a kilowatt hour for electricity in the state.
