Tokyo-based Komaihaltec — which recently installed Bhutan’s first wind farm — supplied three of its 300KW turbines for the one-year demonstration project in the remote township of Ust-Kamchatsk, on the Kamchatka peninsula.

The energy-efficiency pilot, which includes a grid stabilisation system built around electric boilers, went into operation in January of this year.

“(It) has the potential to become a base for the introduction of wind power and micro-grid systems across many of Russia’s isolated communities,” Mitsui said in an online statement.
