Tokyo-based Mitsubishi will take a 43.9% stake in the venture, while developer Venti-Japan will hold 51%.

C-Tech, a subsidiary of Chubu Electric, will hold the remaining 5.1% share.

In September, the partners will start construction along a stretch of coastline between the cities of Akita and Katagami, just south of the Oga peninsula, according to an online statement.

Mitsubishi declined to reveal which company will supply the 3MW turbines, as many details of the project are still under negotiation.
