The $100m facility in Fort Smith will produce nacelles for Mitsubishi’s flagship 2.4MW turbine class models that were introduced in the US in 2008. Since then, 378 units have been installed, according to the American Wind Energy Association, a trade group.
Williams says the plant will have initial production capacity of 250 nacelles a year. The company is working to build a chain of suppliers in northwestern Arkansas.
