In one of the first country reports to be released as part of its REmap 2030 series, IRENA concludes that by the end of next decade Mexico can cost-competitively derive 21% of its total final energy consumption from modern renewables – meaning no traditional biomass – compared to just 3.8% in 2013.
In a business-as-usual case, Mexico is expected to source around 10% of its total final energy consumption from modern renewables in 2030.
