The Mt Mercer development, near Ballarat in Victoria, Australia, has a capacity of 131MW, bringing Meridian's total operating portfolio in the country to 201MW.
The 60MW Mill Creek project will increase the amount of electricity Meridian produces using wind from 10% to 12% of the company's total annual production in New Zealand, said New Zealand-based Meridian Energy.
"All 26 wind turbines at Wellington's Mill Creek and 64 turbines at Mt Mercer wind farm in Victoria, Australia are now producing electricity," according to the utility.
