The European parliament rejected Bratusek’s nomination as a senior vice-president by 112 votes to 13, after she faced severe criticism from MEPs who claimed she was unfit for the job.
Slovenia must now pick another candidate, leaving the possibility that European Commission president-elect Jean-Claude Juncker will likely have to reshuffle the portfolios of his new team.
