The move comes less than three weeks after Baker signed a bipartisan energy bill into law that created a 1.6GW offshore wind market in Massachusetts, giving the emerging US sector a huge boost in credibility and scale.
The funding will support three offshore wind research projects to identify industry workforce training and safety requirements; establish a multi-university partnership focused on innovation and driving down costs; and develop a new technique to monitor the structural health of wind blades.
