The original version of the bill (S 2372) - Global Warming Solutions Act – had set a 2030 deadline.

The bill would also require power distributors to procure 12.45 million MWh of clean energy from hydro, onshore wind, solar, energy storage and anaerobic digestion through 15- and 20-year contracts.

The bill effectively doubles the year percentage increase for renewable energy usage for utilities from 1% to 2%.
