Vestas is the first major client of the facility and has a nacelle of one of its 8MW V164 offshore turbines hooked up to Lorc’s 10MW “function tester”.

In an adjacent warehouse, Siemens is set to test an as-yet-unnamed turbine in Lorc’s soon-to-be-completed 12MW HALT (highly accelerated lifetime) tester.

It has taken a small team led by chief executive Ove Poulsen three years to set up Lorc, with financing from a consortium including Siemens, Vestas, Dong Energy and shipping company Maersk, the owner of the former shipyard.
