Amid the impairment charges the company's earnings before interest and taxes (Ebit) came in at Skr30.6bn in the second quarter, compared to an Ebit loss of SKr38bn a year earlier.
The company had a net loss of SKr28.6bn, compared to SKr28.8bn a year earlier.
Vattenfall in April signed a deal to sell its vast German lignite operations to Czech energy firm EPH and its financial partner PPF Investments in a move to rid itself of loss-making and heavily polluting fossil generation.
