So-called "mono buckets", flask-shaped suction caisson technology that is vacuum-sealed into the seabed and levelled using hundreds of built-in water jets, have been calculated by analysts MEC to be the most cost-effective foundation for projects with turbines of around 6MW in waters down to around 40 metres, potentially 24% cheaper than jacket or monopile.
