Danish wind turbine supplier Vestas says it has commissioned 645MW of offshore capacity in 2010, with the start-up of the 165MW Bligh Bank wind farm, the first phase of the Belwind project in Belgium, on 9 December.
Vestas says increasing experience in installing offshore turbines will give it an edge in a market where its fierce rival, Siemens, is the current leader.
