The developer, Kincardine Offshore Windfarm, plans to install up to eight 6MW turbines, 15km off the coast of Aberdeen, eastern Scotland, spaced less than 1km apart, with a maximum height to blade tip of 176 metres.
Kincardine is looking to mount the turbines on semi-submersible floating foundations such as those designed by Principle Power’s WindFloat prototype design.
Anchors and mooring lines will maintain the structure in position.
