Fred Gumo, Kenya’s minister for regional development authorities, told local press that a paper detailing the project is finished, and being discussed at various levels of government. Gumo says he expects the project to be approved by cabinet ministers by the end of March.
The wind farm, which would be an economic boon to Kenya’s underdeveloped north eastern region, is expected to cost around 10bn Kenyan shillings ($126.4m).
