Behind the possible disaster for wind is a price cap of R$184/MWh ($53), way too low in the eyes of wind power developers, but high enough according to the government.
“It's a worrisome price,” says Élbia Silva Gannoum, executive president of the Brazilian Wind Power Association (ABEEólica). “There is little chance the government will change the price before the August 21st auction and there is a risk of a no-show at the [A-3] auction”.
