The MOU could represent up to 60% carrying capacity of the 1GW HVDC project that would allow upstate wind generators to export electricity 260-miles via two submarine cables buried in the Erie Canal and the Hudson River.
The target in-service date for the project is 2021-2022.
The two companies estimate that Invenergy’s planned wind portfolio will generate $1.2bn of new economic development activity in Upstate New York.
