Under the proposal – which had not been discussed in advance with the renewables sector – the industry, energy and tourism ministry (MINETUR) in Madrid foresees spending a maximum of €21m ($22.6m) per year in support for the new capacity.
"The 500MW in wind power the government wants to tender out – including new installations as well as the substitution of old machines by new ones [repowering] – is well below the between 4,553 and 6,473MW in wind power the ministry itself has indicated to be necessary" by 2020, the AEE said.
