The policy unveiled by the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) says turbines with a capacity of 1MW or less will “initially” be eligible for repowering to higher capacity, more efficient models. An extension to “other projects” may follow.

As a key incentive, the policy provides a supplemental interest rate rebate of 0.25% above that available to the new wind projects financed by the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA).
