Although the re-election suggests a continuation of current policies for keeping wind power in Brazil as one of the fastest growing in the world, and a view to kick-starting solar PV power at an auction this week, environmentalists say this could move faster.

“Despite [the government's] declarations it invests in renewable energy, the 10-year expansion plan (PDE 2023) that was announced in September forecasts that 70% of new investments will be made in fossil fuels,”  said Greenpeace Brazil in a statement published soon after Rousseff's victory on Sunday night entitled Four more years.
