In a study that underlines the huge task facing the South Asian nation, the IEA said India is set to miss its ambitious 2022 solar and wind targets – 100GW and 60GW respectively – due to “a challenging set of issues related to land acquisition, remuneration, network expansion and financing”.
But India will nevertheless add 340GW of solar and wind by 2040, making the country the second-largest solar market globally, predicts the IEA’s India Energy Outlook 2015.
