The partners will use Ideol’s semi-submersible, "damping pool" floating foundations, which are designed for waters beyond 35 metres in depth.
The tie-up aims to offer "a cost-competitive and global solution" to support the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's prioritisation of floating offshore wind farms as "a strategic necessity for Japan’s energy mix".
"One of the most strategic and knowledgeable markets for floating offshore wind has identified Ideol's solution as the one most likely to dramatically reduce the LCoE [levelised cost of energy] of commercial wind farms," says Ideol chief executive Paul de la Guérivière.
