In 2020-2029, Idaho Power intends to add a further 500MW of wind power. The utility, based in the state capital Boise, serves about 486,000 retail customers in Idaho and eastern Oregon. The customer base is expected to grow to 680,000 by 2029. About 98% of revenue now comes from Idaho.
Idaho does not have a renewable portfolio standard or other mandates to encourage alternative energy development, as it is already a major hydroelectric state.
