Iberdrola’s purchase comes within the context of a 2005 agreement, where it agreed to buy wind parks in Andalucia with a total capacity of 600MW from Gamesa.
As part of the deal, Iberdrola is also buying the transport infrastructure necessary to export the wind farm’s output to the national grid. As part of the project, Gamesa constructed a new 120km, 220 kV transmission line between La Puebla and Guillena, which has allowed Spain to improve its power interconnection with Portugal.
