Iberdrola says engineers had now finished lifting into place the  substation, christened Andalusia, built at Navantia’s Puerto Real yard at Cadiz in southern Spain.

The offshore substation will be jointly used by Iberdrola and transmission operator 50Hertz. It is the first such substation to be designed using a six-legged pre-piled jacket.

The jacket, or supporting structure,  left the Spanish yard by barge on 10 August, to be followed a few days later by a barge carrying the two topside modules.
