TLPWIND, being run through a tie-up with Scotland's University of Strathclyde and UK technology innovation and research centre the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, aims to develop a so-called tension leg platform (TLP) along with a new-look installation system for deployment in 60-100 metres of water.

The floater, which would be optimised by dimension and steel weight to cut construction costs, would be based around a mooring system with tensioned cables to stablised the wind turbine offshore.
